BSS
Examinations for BOAT SAFETY STANDARDS (BSS) undertaken by Eric Brook, A.B.S.E.,of the above Company, at the following charges:
- All Narrow Beam Craft @ £2 per foot of boat length, up to 55ft. plus,
- Length over 55' @ £1 per ft.
- Wide Beam Craft, or Twin Engine Craft add 20% to above prices.
- MINIMUM CHARGES Cruisers £85. Narrow boats £100
- Issue of B S S Certificate (B.W.charge) £35.
- Re-examination of failed items (within 60 days):
Note, where remedial work is carried out by EMBS the re - examination is free of charge.

Over 25 items as for initial examination, less 20%
These charges apply to craft examined at Willow Moorings, or within a 15 mile radius. For craft
examined at further locations, traveling time will be charged at £30 per hour, plus 80p per mile,
divided pro. rata, between the craft examined on any one day, at any one location.
All charges are plus V A T @ current rate.

Gas Regulation
Please note that LPG testing on hire boats or any craft used as a permanent residence, a Corgi
registered person must do the gas test, unless the craft is fitted with a "Bubble Tester".
The obvious advantage of a bubble tester is that any BSS examiner can carry out the test & the
owner can test for gas soundness at any time. The boat owner or any competent qualified person
can easily carry out fitting a bubble tester.
Current cost of an Alde bubble tester is £41.75 inc vat, a direct saving on the cost of having a gas
engineer present at the BSS examination.
As a bubble tester simplifies the gas test a discount of 5% on the above prices is applied by Eric
Brook. For craft with no gas on board a 10% discount is applicable.
Royal National Lifeboat Institute
Eric Brook is also qualified to carry out RNLI Sea Safety Checks. These checks carried out free of charge, are available to all boat owners who intend to cruise into tidal waters, i.e. the lower Trent, Ouse or offshore. Talk to Eric about what is involved.
